First of all, I want to thank my dear friend JM over at Book Freak Revelations for hosting this blog tour and making this possible.
I don’t know where to start.
I don’t think I have any coherent thoughts after reading this. TOO MANY THINGS HAPPENED. TOO MUCH CUTENESS & EMOTIONS!
As a fan of Becky Albetalli’s quirky and cutesy contemporaries and Adam Silvera’s novels that stir your emotions and will make you cry happy tears, What If It’s Us is an absolute wonder written by two amazing authors.
I’ll just start off with the one thing that bothered me, the instant-love part of the story. It just never works for me but this book is an exception. I hate that I ended up loving this book because it’s so good. I just can’t get enough of the plot & the characters. I was really invested for the two MC to meet and find each other.
I loved how New York city was pictured in this book, makes wanna move to NYC and find my special someone, maybe someday?
Let’s talk about the plot and writing style which I very much adored. I loved how it felt so vivid and life like. The characters embodied realistic teenage angst. Arthur and Ben are complete opposites. Arthur who is gay, Jewish and has ADHD. He was the lovable one and who hasn’t had any boyfriend up until the moment he met the cutest boy ever by the post office. Ben, who was gay and a white-passing Puerto Rican who came from a low-income family suddenly meets someone interesting. Though he thinks he had to act cool and take it slow just because he just broken up with his ex.
The romance is like a complicated fluff of marshmallow. It’s sweet but it has its bitter ends to it. Diversity is simply written all over this book!
Both of their friends are goals for me! Where can I get them, really? And their families are very supportive and loving towards these two
“What and if are two words when put together can haunt you for the rest of your life.” I think that came from a movie. What If It’s Us is the perfect summer read for anyone who wants to explore and go beyond the boundaries of love.
